Green Lemonade: Juice Recipe

Summer may be coming to a close, but lemonade never goes out of season in my house. This is not your typical lemonade, think of it as super lemonade, thanks to a large dose of leafy greens. Check out its benefits, below!



Green Lemonade
2 minutes to make // Yields: 1 serving

Ingredients

Celery (5-6 large stalks)
Kale (one bunch, stalks and all) 
Apple (one)
Lemon (one, without peel)
Ginger (half inch piece)

Instructions

1- Juice all ingredients.
2- Enjoy!

Benefits

Celery: High in calcium 1 cup of juiced celery provides 20% of your daily recommendation for calcium (take that dairy products). Also high in collagen-promoting vitamin C, and Vitamin A which is great for your vision, skin and teeth. 

Kale: One of the most nutrient-dense/antioixdant rich of all vegetables. It rates 1000 on the ANDI (Aggregate Nutrient Density Index). What does this mean? Include it is your diet as often as possible!

Apple: As they say, an apple a day, keeps the doctor away. The antioxidant quercetin, helps boost your endurance by increasing oxygen to the lungs, so it's great pre-run. It is also good for detoxifying and digestive health. The sweetness may help reduce your cravings for processed sweets. 

Lemon: Although they seem acidic, lemons have an alkalizing effect on the body. They deliver an immune boost with Vitamin C, and a mild diuretic effect, helping you shed water weight. 

Ginger: Helps with gastrointestinal problems, is highly anti-inflammatory, and protects against certain types of cancer.
