Bombshell Superfood: Papaya

Papaya is one food you don't want to miss out on if you desire a beautiful complexion head to toe

This tropical fruit is packed with skin nourishing enzymes that dissolve dead skin cells and help in the creation of new healthy skin cells, when it is eaten or applied in a face mask.   Here is what papaya can do for you:

Promote glowing, clear, radiant skin
Firm skin with its collagen tightening enzymes
Create radiant, glowing eyes
Increase nail strength
Add luster to the hair
Cleanse and soothe the digestive tract
Calm indigestion and alleviate flatulence
Protect against cancer and tumors

Papayas seem to contain more health and beauty boosting properties when partially (half to three-quarters) ripe.  The unripe fruit is green, so look for ones that maintain some green, yet have partially turned red, orange, or dark yellow.  They should be supple all over and heavy.  Avoid mushy or bruised fruits, as well as those with soft or hard spots.

Enjoy this fruit on its own or in a smoothie.  You can also chop it up and throw it in a salad.  Its sweet flavor makes it excellent for desserts and tropical salsas as well.

To use papaya as an exfoliating facial mask, just cut unripe fruit in half, and then cut off a small chunk. Rub it over entire face, carefully avoiding eyes and lips, as these enzymes are strong and can burn them. Leave on for 5-10 minutes before washing. The enzymes in the papaya will slough off dead skin cells to reveal a tightened, clear, and radiant complexion.
