All plant foods contain varying amounts of easily absorbable
protein. In fact, calorie for calorie,
spinach contains more protein than beef. What makes it even better? Unlike
beef, with its cholesterol, carcinogens and saturated fat, spinach is packed
with fiber and anti-oxidants.
You already
know that protein is important; it’s the basic building block of the human
structure, helping our bodies form muscles, skin and
hair. But, did you know that protein requirements vary dramatically from person
to person? The majority of Americans today are eating way too much protein. And what’s worse? They prefer to get their
protein primarily from beef and other meat sources, overlooking plant sources
entirely!
Think
you’ll be weak without meat?
Not likely. More and more endurance athletes are living meat-free lifestyles. Meet
Brendan Brazier, an Ironman triathlete who proves that eating
a plant-based diet provides more than enough protein for a high performance athlete.
If you're an athlete, you definitely want to check out the webinar in that link. It will probably flip everything you think about protein and sports nutrition on its head.

PS. Animal meat, like beef has lots of protein right? Well, where do you think the animals get their protein from? Cows eat grass.
